Short on time? Cross the High Atlas, walk the lanes of Aït Benhaddou, follow the palm-lined Drâa Valley and spend a night under Saharan stars near Zagora.
A one-way crossing that turns a long transfer into an adventure: kasbahs, the Dades and Todra gorges, a camel ride into Erg Chebbi, then cedar forests on the road to Fes.
Our most requested route. Two days of mountain passes, gorges and oases lead to a sunset camel trek and a night in a Berber camp beneath the tallest dunes in Morocco.
The same classic crossing at an easier pace, with an extra day in the dunes to explore nomad life, Gnawa music in Khamlia and the oasis around Merzouga.
A round trip that shows both faces of the south: out through the Drâa Valley and N'kob to the dunes, back via the Todra Gorge, the Dades Valley and the Valley of Roses.
The complete southern loop, with two nights around Erg Chebbi. Head out through the gorges, then return across the Anti-Atlas via Alnif and N'kob, with time to breathe at every stop.
Depth over distance: nights in Ouarzazate and the Todra Gorge, a full free day around Erg Chebbi, then a scenic Middle Atlas finish in the imperial city of Fes.
A full week between Morocco's two great medinas, starting at Marrakech airport: a guided tour of Marrakech, unhurried drives through the kasbah country, two nights at the dunes of Erg Chebbi and a guided day in Fes.
South first, then north: guided Marrakech, the kasbah road, two nights at the Merzouga dunes, a guided day in Fes, Volubilis, blue Chefchaouen, Rabat and a finish at the Hassan II Mosque.
A full circle of Morocco without retracing a road: Marrakech, Essaouira, Taroudant and the saffron country, Ouarzazate, two nights at the Merzouga dunes, Midelt, Fes, two nights in Chefchaouen, Rabat and Casablanca.
Fes is the closest imperial city to Erg Chebbi. Your route runs through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, past Ifrane and Midelt, then follows the Ziz Valley down to the dunes. Return to Fes or carry on through the gorges to Marrakech. More about tours From Fes
A fast but unhurried taste of the Sahara from Fes: cedar forests and Barbary macaques, the Ziz Valley canyon, sunset on the dunes and a night in a desert camp.
The favourite round trip from Fes. Two nights in the south give you a full day to explore Merzouga's lakes, nomad families and villages before your camel trek.
Link Morocco's two great cities through its wild heart: Middle Atlas forests, a night in Erg Chebbi, the Todra Gorge, the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs and Aït Benhaddou.
The one-way crossing with room to linger: two nights around Merzouga, then the Todra Gorge, the Dades and Rose valleys and a night in Ouarzazate before the Atlas.
Eight days from Fes to Marrakech: a guided medina day, Meknes and Roman Volubilis, two nights at the Merzouga dunes, the gorges and kasbahs of the south and a guided day in Marrakech.
Flying into Casablanca? These longer journeys link the Hassan II Mosque and the Atlantic coast with the imperial cities, the blue streets of the north and, on most routes, a night in the Sahara before finishing in Marrakech. More about tours From Casablanca

Design My TripHow long do you need?
Merzouga is a full day's drive from Marrakech or Fes, so the number of days shapes the whole experience. Here is how we would advise a friend.
2 – 3 days
The fastest way to sleep in the Sahara. Expect long, scenic driving days with one night among the dunes: ideal if Morocco is part of a bigger trip.
4 – 5 days
Our favourite length. Shorter driving days, a free day around Merzouga and time to stop in the gorges, oases and kasbah villages along the way.
6 – 19 days
Imperial cities, the north, the Atlas and the Sahara in one private journey, with guided visits in the medinas and a relaxed pace throughout.
No surprises
Each itinerary lists its own details, but these essentials come with every multi-day desert tour we run.
